The Police in Jigawa State on Wednesday announced the arrest of an absconded Army Corporal with 169 blocks of marijuana in Ringim Nearby Government Location of the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bala Sanchi, produced this identified to newsmen in Dutse on Wednesday.
Sanchi mentioned the suspect was in the war against Boko Haram but absconded from the service seven months ago.
He explained that the suspect was arrested on September 17 at about two:30pm by guys of “Operation Puff Adder” along Sankara-Amaguwa Road in Ringim LGA.
The CP mentioned the suspect was with a Toyota Camry car with registration quantity Lagos KTU 833 DK.
According to him, the offence is contrary to section 96 of the penal code and section five (b) of the Indian hemp Act cap 16 LFN.
Sanchi mentioned: “On September 17 at about 20:30hrs, the guys of Operation Puff Adder when on patrol along Ringim LGA axis, received the report of a motor car accident along Sankara-Amaguwa Road.

According to Sanchi, in the course of investigation, the suspect claimed to have been invited by 1 Alhaji Abubakar of Lokoja, Kogi State to escort him to Maigatari town in Jigawa State.
He added: “Abdullahi claimed that he did not know that Alhaji Abubakar was carrying Indian hemp in the car.
“And when asked about the Alhaji, the suspect stated that he has escaped to unknown location immediately after the accident.
“Moreover, the police mounted surveillance about the scene of the accident and luckily the subsequent day, about 6am, a Golf four auto with registration quantity AE 94 KUR was sited about the scene roaming about in a suspicious manner.
“Consequently, the policemen arrested the occupants of the car, 1 Nura Mohammed and Abubakar Ahmed, each of Gidan Gawo Quarters in Gumel LGA.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they had been there seeking for the quantity plate of the accident car.
